Koe -- Amano Tsukiko

A.K.A. Voice

The ending for Fatal Frame III.

You may have noticed the long gap between my posts. I'm not expecting to keep this blog regularly update, as this is just a passing interest of mine, but as long as I'm in the mood at the time, I think it's rather unfair to just translate a song for fun and leave it buried in my hard drive. So, here you go, guys.

(Interesting fact: there seems to be a bit of wordplay in this song. The Japanese word for carve/engrave which was in the original song also has an older meaning of 'to torment'. Just a nice little fact.)

If I find you falling within the sea, but in the blue, I see eyes open, breathing
I will pull through; my two legs left on the beach, unneeded
I’ll be a fish with you

And deeper still, you’re falling to the sand; but in the blue, I find you within, breathing
It never ends; I wander in the darkness, becoming the shade of this black sea

I saw everybody go on while I remained alive
The days became unbearable and I only drowned in my cries
You’re not here anymore
I can understand
I can understand

Ascending, ascending, the sunrise occurs
And in my soul, I feel whole, controlling myself
And the blue stabs me through, clings to my vile skin
The warm wind flies to me, sweeping me away with my sin

If I find you with these words that I sing, but in the noise, you still say you can hear me
I’ll shout to you and take away all of my existence and rinse in this black sea

My wounds have all either healed or become my mental scars
But they still remain, haunting you; I still remember how they hurt
I wanted you again
I wanted you again
If only in a dream

The fading, the fading warmth starts to occur
And in my soul, I feel whole, as it leads me home
Maybe now we can roam, covered in regret
And while holding you, I might yet still forget my dreams

Ascending, ascending, the sunrise occurs
And in my soul, I feel whole, controlling myself
Maybe now we can roam, covered in regret
And while holding you, I might yet forget

The fading, the fading warmth starts to occur
And in my soul, I feel whole, as it leads me home
And the blue stabs me through, clings to my vile skin
The warm wind flies to me, sweeping me away with my sin

And it falls to ruin; our memories fall within; even my earring can’t reach the distance it takes to reach you
When I forget, it will end; fading regret, it will end; and I will hear your voice go and fade into the crowd
And it falls to ruin; we’re both falling to ruin; even my earring can’t reach the distance it takes to reach you
I don’t want to comprehend: when I forget, it will end; and I will hear your voice go and fade into silence
